The release of the eagerly awaited James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, has been pushed back to 27 May 2026.

Originally slated for a 27 March release, the title will now debut approximately two months later its first date.

A Long-Awaited Return for 007

This project signifies the inaugural video game starring the legendary British spy since 2012's 007 Legends, ending a considerable hiatus for the character in the gaming world.

"Our project is entirely complete from beginning to end," explained studio IO Interactive. "However, we are using this additional period to further polish and make certain it meets the high expectations of our players."

Production Details and Narrative Components

The game is in production alongside Delphi Interactive, a studio also responsible for another major title.

Patrick Gibson, star of Dexter: Original Sin, takes on the role of a 26-year-old James Bond in what is touted as a new look at the early days.

The narrative charts Bond as he joins into MI6 and is granted his coveted 00 status, offering a self-contained tale independent of the films or books.

Star-Studded Cast and Mechanics Reveals

Adding to the star power, American musician Lenny Kravitz will perform as the title's central foe.

Early preview videos have shown shared mechanics with IO Interactive's hit Hitman franchise, while also featuring the classic gadgets and cinematic set pieces expected from Bond.

However, comments from viewers on these trailers raised issues over how the game looked, citing stuttering and excessive motion blur.

An Ambitious Project

IO Interactive has labeled 007 First Light its "most ambitious project to date."

"We believe this sets 007 First Light up for a strong future," the studio continued. "Thank you for the patience and ongoing enthusiasm we've received."
