BF6 Gamers Concur: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult
The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are protesting against a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Gamers have begun resorting to custom matches made via the Portal feature to complete them, underscoring just how arduous these assignments have become.
Grasping BF6 Tasks
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four classes of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons available in the game.
Several of these restricted firearms may soon make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration via Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and only works at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you want to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
A different forum member brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with marksman guns
This is challenging enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and possibly an additional option if you're lucky if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.
Yet, if tackling the tasks in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for grinding them out in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It is expected if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
For now, the community continues to voice their opinions on these challenging multiplayer missions, expecting a fairer player experience in coming revisions.
