Los Merengues forward Vinicius Jr has apologised to fans for his response when taken off in Sunday's intense match against Barcelona win.

The Brazilian was substituted in the 72nd min and showed his frustration by walking immediately down the tunnel.

The Brazilian subsequently came back to the bench and, after his team's 2-1 win, tried to confront Barcelona's opposing player during contentious after the game exchanges.

"Now I want to say sorry to all the Madridistas for my response when I was substituted in the derby," the player wrote on X.

"Similarly to I have previously expressed during today's session, I would like to say sorry once more to my teammates, the organization, and the club president.

"At times passion gets the better of me because I constantly desire to succeed and assist my club. My determined nature stems from the passion I hold for this club and all it represents."

The player signed for Madrid from his former club in 2018 for a significant fee and has accumulated triple figures in more than 300 games.

But his future in the Spanish capital is unclear with rumors in the past few months indicating that Los Blancos would think about permitting the 25-year-old leave if they were to receive a suitable offer.

When the winger was taken off on the match day, cameras from coverage provider the platform picked him up remarking: "It's always me! I'm departing the side! It's preferable if I leave, I'm moving on."

In his new post on social media, he commented: "I commit to keep fighting every second for the benefit of the club, as I have performed since the initial arrival."
