The Prince of Wales Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in South America

Prince William plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, according to palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering leading up to the climate summit, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

Father and son were in attendance at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a pre-COP30 gathering arranged together with the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

King Charles has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.

Official representatives have described William's involvement at the next COP as stepping up an important role in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the official car, were welcomed guests including environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.

This involvement featured addresses in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco in recent months.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The UN meeting will align with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he joins the climate conference on the sixth of November.

In recent days the William characterized the award contenders as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats confronting humanity over climate change, environmental shifts and ecological decline," the sovereign addressed attendees.
